They’re queueing up to sign Donny van de Beek, but his agent won’t be impressed by who’s in that queue.

Manchester United signed the Dutchman for €39 million from Ajax in September 2020 and it looked at the time to be a superb signing. Van de Beek was one of the most coveted midfielders in world football at the time.

However, things did not work out as expected. Immersed in the chaos of Manchester United’s mismanagement, a series of endless injuries, unsuccessful loan deals and erratic form, the now 27 year old’s career has faltered and ground to a halt as we gallop towards the fourth anniversary of the day he signed.

His latest loan deal at Eintracht Frankfurt has been another disaster. He has only made eight appearances all season, with two starts, and the German club has long since decided not to exercise the option to buy that was included in the deal.

Propped up by the sentimentality of fond memories of his former glory days in Amsterdam, Ajax recently boldly nailed their colours to the mast and offered to kill the fatted calf for their prodigal son.

However, Van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers, turned down the move, stating that “my preference was to look in Spain, France or Italy”.

Albers, therefore, will presumably similarly be turning down the latest club to throw their hat into the ring by virtue of their geography.

According to fichajes.net, Galatasaray “see in the Dutch midfielder an attractive option to strengthen its midfield and increase its competitiveness in the different competitions in which it participates.”

The report explains that Gala “hope to convince Van de Beek by offering him the opportunity to have a more constant participation and a relevant role in the team.”

There is plenty of time to sort out a new club for Donny before the new season starts, but it may be that Albers is not serving his client well by holding out for a starting number 10 role in one of Europe’s top leagues after the four years the player has had.

There have been murmurs of Real Sociedad and Inter Milan showing some interest, but nothing concrete has developed at this stage. A loan to Sociedad fell through previously and there may be big boots to fill there if Martin Zubimendi moves on. Meanwhile, opportunities could be limited in a successful and established Inter side which tends to operate with twin strikers rather than a number 10.

Of course, the option remains for Van de Beek to sit out the last year of his Old Trafford contract if nothing emerges to please him. However, that would almost certainly mean his spell in the wilderness will extend to five years and his stock could be so low that ships such as Ajax and Galatasaray might have sailed, too.

Donny van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers, has indicated that his client will not be heading back to Ajax as he prefers other potential destinations.

It’s looking almost certain that Van de Beek will leave Manchester United at the end of the season. The midfielder has endured a nightmare spell at Old Trafford since his arrival, which has seen him make loan switches to Everton and more recently, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Neither transfer has served to reignite his career and it’s now almost inevitable that United and Van de Beek will part ways permanently.

He joined Frankfurt in January but has been unable to force himself into Dino Toppmoller’s plans. Van de Beek has only made eight appearances at the Deutsche Bank Park outfit after playing only two games for United before he made the switch to the Bundesliga.

All season, the Netherlands international has only managed 380 minutes.

Unsurprisingly, Frankfurt have elected not to make his stay in Germany permanent and he will go back to United before being made available for sale.

A report covered by The Peoples Person mooted a potential return to Ajax for the 27-year-old. It’s in Amsterdam that Van de Beek made his name and convinced United to fork out £39m to secure his services in 2020.

However, according to his agent, that option is not on the table and they’re eyeing a transfer to Spain or Italy instead.

Van de Beek’s representative also discussed how the star’s proposed January loan move to Real Sociedad collapsed.

He said, “I sat with Donny. In any case, he will not return to Ajax. My preference was to look in Spain, France or Italy. ”

“If I can get it to Spain or Italy that would be fantastic. At a club where he can play as number 10 as he did at Ajax.”

On the Sociedad transfer falling through, Albers remarked, “That fell through at the last minute. Ten Hag then wanted to keep him until the last moment of the transfer period.”

“Then a choice had to be made and he joined Eintracht Frankfurt through a relationship from his previous management. They did that very well by taking him away from Manchester United where he was not going to play anyway.”

He added, “But then you arrive late at a club where you are not known at all. That is very difficult.”

Van de Beek’s contract with United is set to expire in 2025, so the upcoming window represents the Red Devils’ only chance of getting whatever little fee they can from getting rid of him.

Manchester United loanee Donny van de Beek has picked up an achilles injury which has resulted in him returning to his native Netherlands to receive treatment.

The Dutchman has endured yet another horrendous season where he has been totally unable to force himself into the first team at Eintracht Frankfurt, after joining the Bundesliga side on loan in January.

The player has only made eight appearances in the German league, after playing only two matches for United earlier in the season.

In total, he has only been on the pitch 378 minutes for the entire season.

Adding to his woes, he has not started for Frankfurt since the 25th of February against VfL Wolfsburg and last played in a defeat to Bayern Munich at the end of April.

Due to the player’s minimal impact the 2022 Europa League winners took the decision very early on not to extend his stay in Germany beyond this season.

The latest rumours have seen Van de Beek linked to his former club Ajax as he searches for a place to relaunch his stagnating career.

Dino Toppmoller, the Eintracht Frankfurt coach, has now confirmed in his pre-match press conference (via LigaInsider) that the Netherlands midfielder is out of this weekend’s fixture against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“He is there (the Netherlands) because he is having treatment for a problem with his heel/Achilles tendon. He wanted to see his confidant this week”.

“Now we are doing everything we can to ensure that he can get in next week and possibly be an option for the last home game”.

The injury is yet another setback in an horrendous one on a personal level for the midfielder.

However, United have also struggled massively on and off the pitch with injuries.

Mason Mount is the latest player to pick up yet another problem in an injury-riddled debut campaign for the Englishman that has robbed him of any chance of making any real impact at the club.

There have been so many problems in this department that new owners INEOS have launched an investigation into Erik ten Hag’s training methods to try and get to the bottom of what is going wrong at the club.

If the Old Trafford side are to really reach the top table of English football again, they must rid themselves of the terrible injury curse that has plagued this season.

Manchester United are expecting a busy summer with INEOS taking charge of their first transfer window at Old Trafford.

As well as making additions to the first team squad, INEOS will be looking to offload some fringe players to make room for new arrivals.

One player whose future surely lies away from Manchester is Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek.

As reported by Fichajes, a surprise return to Ajax may be on the cards for the 26-year-old whose career has nosedived since signing for United.

Van de Beek is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt but the German side are unlikely to make the deal permanent given his poor form.

Frankfurt have the option to buy the midfielder for €11 million but he is expected to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

A return to his homeland would give Van de Beek a chance to reignite his career and get back to his best form.

Ajax have had struggles of their own this season and a reunion would give the club and player an opportunity to find their feet once more.

However, a summer move is still a long way off with no negotiations ongoing between the clubs and no admission from Van de Beek that he is willing to move.

It’s been an awful period for the Dutchman who has suffered badly with injuries and lack of form since signing for United in the summer 2020 on a five-year deal.

Despite scoring on his debut, Van de Beek has added just one more goal to his tally at the club, over a total of 62 games.

It was hoped that his former Ajax boss could save the midfielder’s career at United but even Ten Hag failed to get a tune out of his compatriot.

The Dutchman’s future is also uncertain and with Ajax reportedly interested in rehiring their old manager, an incredible reunion for both in Amsterdam isn’t off the cards.

United will hope to recoup some of the £35 million they paid to Ajax for Van de Beek four years ago but will be lucky to get anywhere near half for a player who has struggled to deal with the pressure of playing at the Theatre of Dreams.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek will return to Old Trafford at the end of the season, following the expiry of his loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Van de Beek joined Frankfurt in January to escape his troubles in England and to go somewhere where he would be guaranteed significant first-team minutes.

However, it has not been smooth sailing in Germany for the midfielder, whose struggles to revive his career show no signs of slowing down.

He has so far managed just seven appearances in the Bundesliga and has amassed 346 minutes of top-flight action.

Often, the Netherlands international has been an unused substitute for Frankfurt. Van de Beek has started four games for the club and has been brought on in three other matches. He has yet to register a goal or assist for the side despite being deployed in advanced positions on the pitch.

During the weekend, he was given 24 minutes against VfB Stuttgart but couldn’t have the desired impact as they suffered a 3-0 loss at MHPArena.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person revealed that Frankfurt had not made a definitive decision on whether they wanted to keep Van de Beek permanently, despite earlier suggestions that they would cut him loose.

It was relayed that Dino Toppmöller’s side were still mulling over whether to trigger a buy-option worth around €10 million contained in the arrangement that was negotiated with United.

However, Romano has now given an update and explained that Frankfurt have made their decision and will part ways with Van de Beek.

The Italian journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Donny van de Beek will return to Man United in June.”

“The buy option clause (€11m plus €3m add-ons) into loan deal will not be triggered by Eintracht Frankfurt.”

“Dutch midfielder expected to look for new chapter, new club in the summer transfer window.”

It’s yet another blow for Van de Beek. The 26-year-old’s United contract elapses in the summer of 2025.

Manchester United loanee, Donny van de Beek, has rarely been involved as of late for Eintracht Frankfurt.

His loan spell has been an unmitigated disaster, due to the fact he has only played six times for his new club since he joined in January.

In fact, there was news early on in his loan that the Bundesliga side were so unimpressed by his impact that they had decided to not keep the player in the summer.

What’s more, United seem so desperate to rid of him from their wage books that they would consider letting him go for nothing in this upcoming window, according to recent reports.

The Dutchman was given 24 minutes off the bench as his Frankfurt side came unstuck 3-0 against VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.

It was the first time he had been called off the bench since March 10th, sitting out his last three games in a row.

The match was over as a contest early on, as the home side raced into a three goal lead after only 37 minutes.

Therefore, when Van de Beek entered the field of play, the tie was already over.

Sofascore gave the player a rating of 6.5 for his brief afternoon’s work.

Even though Frankfurt did manage 10 shots to the home side’s nine, the United midfielder was unable to contribute any, as he finished with no efforts on or off target.

The 26 year old made 10 out of his 12 passes, for a percentage of 83%, but none were threatening as he had 0 key passes in the match.

He lost the ball twice and failed to win his one ground duel.

The result means that Frankfurt remain in sixth place, well adrift from Borussia Dortmund in fifth as the gap now stands at 14 points between the two sides.

Van de Beek’s team will next play at home next Friday, when they host Augsburg as the Bundesliga enters the final stretch.

From the United man’s perspective, a start would be ideal to try and show off his talents but truthfully, it would be a massive surprise given how his loan spell has turned out, as even getting off the bench is a challenge these days.

Manchester United loanee Donny van de Beek has been handed a major lifeline in his bid to save his struggling career with Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly still mulling over retaining him on a permanent basis.

Van de Beek joined Frankfurt from United in the January transfer window to escape his troubles in England but everything has not gone according to plan.

He has made just four starts in Germany’s top flight and has come off the bench in two games.

The Dutchman has also been left as an unused substitute in a further six games. Whenever given the opportunity to play, the United loanee has often struggled to make an impact.

Late last month, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are desperate to offload Van de Beek and remove his wages from their books.

Frankfurt have an option to buy the midfielder from United for €10 million. It was relayed that the player has struggled to justify a top club splashing that kind of money on him and Erik ten Hag’s side are prepared to give a discount.

It subsequently emerged that the 20-time English champions are even prepared to cut their losses and let the 26-year-old leave for free.

Van de Beek’s Old Trafford contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

It was believed that Frankfurt, who have been very unimpressed by Van de Beek, had already decided not to extend his stay at Deutsche Bank Park but according to The Daily Mail, there is still some hope that the Bundesliga outfit could make a u-turn and keep him.

“Donny van de Beek’s frustrating career post-Ajax has continued during his loan spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, but Confidential understands the prospect of him remaining there is not off the table completely just yet.”

“Sources close to the Bundesliga side insist no decision has been made yet on whether to make Van de Beek’s loan permanent and any such discussions have been placed on hold until the end of the campaign.”

The newspaper adds, “Frankfurt have £10.3m option-to-buy built into the loan and while there is some pessimism in United circles that that will be enacted, sources in Germany stressed that it is not already a foregone conclusion that he will return to England.”

Van de Beek and Frankfurt return to action on Saturday when they take on Stuttgart.

The post INEOS look to offload three Manchester United players to OGC Nice appeared first on Man United News And Transfer News | The Peoples Person.

]]>

INEOS are currently plotting how to maximise the advantages of owning both Manchester United and Nice in preparation for the summer window.

The Red Devils have already been linked to a few players from the Ligue 1 side over the past few months.

The clearest example of that is centre back, Jean-Clair Todibo who has been seen as a target for United since last summer. Khephren Thuram has also been touted as a player the club could bring in to bolster the midfield, while just this week the Old Trafford side were said to have opened talks for left back, Melvin Bard.

The idea that the two clubs could work together has been suggested by different sources but HITC have confirmed that they are certain this is the case.

“Now sources have confirmed to HITC that conversations have taken place at the highest levels within INEOS about the prospects of players moving to England”.

Erik ten Hag’s side do want to bring in a midfielder this summer but the recruitment of one is more connected to sales than other positions due to the bloated nature of excess players in this area of the squad.

HTIC interestingly state, “whilst INEOS have discussed who could arrive from France, they have also looked at the possibility of players moving the other way and indeed both Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek have been mentioned in conversations”.

Both players have been linked away from Old Trafford as Van de Beek’s loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt has been a disaster and Eriksen has barely featured in 2024 and is naturally unhappy with his lack of playing time.

It is also touted that “one deal Nice are looking at is the possibility of bringing Anthony Martial back to France. They are considering offering him the chance of a move back to Ligue 1 – but 28-year-old does have a host of options emerging”.

Another intriguing dynamic of a potential partnership between the two sides could be a trusted loan partner as the Red Devils have struggled massively over the years to find appropriate homes for their loanees with the successes of Amad Diallo at Sunderland and Will Fish at Hibernian being the exceptions to the rule.

“It is believed that United do see Nice as a possibility to hone some of their top emerging talent – but INEOS do insist that no deals would be forced on either club as their own independence is important despite being under the same ownership umbrella, and that is important given that could be expanded in the coming years”.

It will certainly be an interesting topic for United fans to follow as the summer window approaches. Much has been made of the potential negativity of INEOS’ ownership of both clubs such as the potential ineligibility of one of the teams to play in Europe due to their respective league positions. However, the concept of a transfer partnership is certainly an aspect that could be very fruitful for both sides.

]]>

A lot has gone wrong for Manchester United this season and new co-owners INEOS are desperate to right the wrongs of the Glazers and a pivotal summer transfer window lies ahead for the club.

But before the new-look behind-the-scenes team can get on with the recruitment side of things, the club will need to move on players due to FFP restrictions.

And Sir Jim Ratcliffe is already planning a large-scale summer exodus with the number of players set to depart in double figures.

One of them is set to be Donny van de Beek, who left the club on loan in January to join Eintracht Frankfurt but has endured a nightmarish spell so far.

Donny’s uncertain future

The Netherlands international has started only four times for the German club with manager Dino Toppmoller even going as far as to exclude him from the UEFA Conference League squad.

The Bundesliga club are unlikely to trigger the €10 million buy option included in his loan contract, which means the former Ajax star is all set to return to Manchester where he has hardly got a look-in since his €39 million move back in 2020.

He started only 19 games in his first two seasons with both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim manager Ralf Rangnick not deeming him good enough to start games consistently for the club.

And despite his former Ajax boss’ arrival, his fortunes did not improve with only four starts coming his way last season while Ten Hag played him for 21 minutes in the first-half of the campaign which prompted the loan exit.

The 20-time English league champions are desperate to move him on irrespective of what they decide with Ten Hag considering the midfielder’s considerable weekly wages of £120,000. His current deal will have one year left come June.

His former Eredivisie club were linked with a move but they are refusing to pay anywhere close to United’s valuation and now Givemesport have claimed that the club could even agree to terminate his contract and release him on a free judging from the response from suitors.

Let him leave on a free

“He is still only 26, so you would like to think this can turnaround, but you get to a stage with a player like this where you have to consider drawing a line under it.

“Van de Beek has one year left at Manchester United, but the fact the loan spell at Frankfurt has failed to ignite any upturn in form or confidence suggests he is not going to be able to level-up to force his way into that team by next season. I doubt even a change of manager is going to change that.

“It is a pretty sad situation because he should have been a good signing. If Frankfurt don’t want to buy him, the options for Manchester United are going to be another loan or a cheap sale elsewhere. At this stage, it might even be a case of agreeing to let him leave for free if it gets him off the wage bill.”

His current market value stands at an abysmal €7 million and it is sad to see how far Van de Beek’s stocks have fallen since his Ajax days when United had to beat Real Madrid to win the race for the Dutchman, who was a Ballon d’Or nominee at that point.

Manchester United’s penchant for overpaying means the club are currently in a precarious situation with regards to FFP and they need to raise money before focusing on recruitment.

That is why new co-owners INEOS are planning for a massive summer clearout with more than 10 players linked with an exit as the club look to raise over €100 million in sales.

One of them who is expected to be on his way out is Donny van de Beek, who has endured a horrid time since his €39 million move to Old Trafford back in 2020.

He started only 19 games in his first two seasons with both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim manager Ralf Rangnick not deeming him good enough to start games consistently for the club.

Donny’s nightmare United spell

The former RB Leipzig boss even proceeded to sanction a loan exit to Everton which also did not quite work out. When Erik ten Hag was named manager, the thinking was the former Ajax coach could get a tune out of the versatile midfielder.

Both had enjoyed great success in Amsterdam, however, when Ten Hag did land up in Manchester, he found a player who was completely shorne of confidence and looked like a shadow in most games.

Under the Dutchman, the 25-year-old started in only four games last season and managed only 21 minutes this term before the decision was taken to send him to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan with the Bundesliga side having the option of making his temporary stay permanent for €10 million.

But so far, Van de Beek has started only four times for the German club with Dino Toppmoller even going as far as to exclude him from the UEFA Conference League squad.

Frankfurt are unlikely to permanently sign the Netherlands international and as per Soccer News, Ajax could pounce with United desperate to sell.

However, the Dutch giants are not even willing to spend €10 million for their former hero and United could agree an even more discounted price to get rid of Van de Beek’s wages.

“The decision about the midfielder’s future in the Bundesliga has already been made: in Frankfurt they do not believe that the former Ajax player is worth the agreed amount of ten million euros.

Further discount

“And so Van de Beek will have to report back to Manchester United in a few months, but they want to release him as quickly as possible.

“United are keen to sell Van de Beek, partly in view of the Financial Fair Play rules and possible purchases. Ajax have been linked with a move for their former crowd favorite for some time now and the Johan Cruijff ArenA could use a few reinforcements.

“Van de Beek is also affordable, since The Red Devils want to earn ten million euros from the sale and there also seems to be room for negotiation.”

Van de Beek’s stock has fallen massively and returning to familiar surroundings could help reignite a failing career.

His current market value stands at an abysmal €7 million and it looks like United could agree a similar fee and in the process, take a huge hit on their initial investment once again.
