\nManchester United women’s team cruised to a comfortable 4-0 goal against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley to lift the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.<\/p>\n
The two sides met in front of a sold-out crowd in the national stadium as they both aimed to lift their first major trophy.<\/p>\n
It was a more familiar venue for United, who reached the FA Cup final last year but unfortunately lost to Chelsea.<\/p>\n
This time however, Marc Skinner’s side prevailed as they managed a 4-0 victory courtesy of goals from Ella Toone, Rachel Williams and a Luis Garcia double.<\/p>\n
United started strongly with Rachel Williams who led the line, coming close with a header at the back post from a corner.<\/p>\n
Leah Galton also had a sight of goal when she was put through on Rebecca Spencer’s goal but she couldn’t make something stick. She collided with the Spurs goalkeeper and both players had to receive some medical attention. Luckily, they carried on with proceedings and it was nothing serious.<\/p>\n
The Red Devils were easily the dominant side as evidenced by having the lion’s share of possession and attempting the most shots, both on-target and off-target.<\/p>\n
The opening 45 minutes were largely characterised by nerves and some poor finishing, up until seconds before the interval when Ella Toone came up with a moment of magic.<\/p>\n
She took the ball and expertly evaded a tackle from Eveliina Summanen before firing a rocket from outside the area into the back of the net, giving Spencer no chance whatsoever of keeping it out.<\/p>\n
It was an electric goal from Toone – her fourth in seven Wembley appearances.<\/p>\n
